There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Shelton's 49 - 7 win over Guilford last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jake Roberts. Roberts ran for 115 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Roberts as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
A
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Fairfield Prep (12th in the power rankings) took on Sheehan (20th) last week. Fairfield Prep finished its game with a 23 - 14 win. The victory boosted it a satisfying six spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Glastonbury and East Hartford last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 70 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. East Hartford had all the answers against Glastonbury, winning 49 - 21. Despite East Hartford's victory, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up one spot in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Staples (8th in the power rankings) and Darien (1st). This will be the second consecutive road game for Staples. Don't be surprised if the score for this one pushes triple digits as Darien and Staples both racked up points last week.
