AAA Region 2 recap November 13, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in AAA Region 2 this week, Carver beat Jackson 42-21. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Southwest fell to Peach County 54-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Justin Slocum threw for 35 yards and 1 touchdown and caught 2 passes for 69 yards in the defeat.
Greg Williams threw for 195 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 10-14 with 1 interception.
Tyree White was a key player and the best on defense this week as Southwest lost to the Trojans. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded 1 fumble.
De'Eric Bell was the best running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 168 yards as the Red Devils beat Joe Dupree's team. Teammate Ira Sheppard added to the ground attack by rushing for 50 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Chad Campbell's team's Williams and Gibson have proven to be a lethal combination. Williams has thrown for 1,987 yards this season, while Gibson has 45 catches for 950 yards. Jackson's Bell leads the league in rushing yards with 1,070.
The Trojans' Gibson is only 50 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the Chapel Hill. So far this year, he has acheived 45 catches for 950 yards.
Going into this week's contest against the Panthers, Peach County's Williams needs 13 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
An important game coming up in AAA Region 2 this week will be when Central takes on Pike County. As it stands, the Lions are in sixth, while the Pirates are in third.
