Anacostia is 9-0 against the Roughriders since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Anacostia Indians will be staying on the road to face off against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. Roosevelt took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Anacostia, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Anacostia faced the Trainers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Anacostia strolled past the Trainers with points to spare, taking the game 43-26. The victory was just what Anacostia needed coming off of a 48-23 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anacostia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nayjah Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinley Tech.
Anacostia's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9. As for Roosevelt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Everything went Anacostia's way against the Roughriders in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the Indians made off with a 52-27 victory. Does Anacostia have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roughriders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
