A warning to high school basketball coaches nationwide looking to schedule an out-of-state team for next season: stay away from New Hampshire.
Fueled by a 20-6 record against schools from Vermont, New Hampshire has the highest winning percentage of any state in the country this winter when it comes to playing against teams from other states, according to scores collected by MaxPreps.com and partner CalPreps.com.
The Granite State was rock solid playing beyond its borders, going 74-46 overall (.616 winning percentage) with 51 wins coming against Vermont and Massachusetts.
Equally as surprising was No. 2 on the list – Idaho. Sparked by a 41-16 mark against rival Oregon, the Gem State went 110-71 overall (.607), demonstrating that Boise State football isn't the only athletic powerhouse in a place known for potatoes.

Colorado (103-74, .581), Indiana (193-143, .574) and Kansas (256-204, .556) round out the top five in terms of winning percentage.
While the records provide a very incomplete look at how a state stacks up in the hierarchy of high school basketball nationwide, there were some interesting parallels at the bottom of the list.
Hawaii (.228), Alaska (.302), Rhode Island (.345), Maine (.392) and Oregon (.429) were the five least successful states. Not surprisingly, Alaska (43 games), Hawaii (35) and Maine (51) played the fewest number of games against teams from other states.
On the other end of the spectrum, Maryland and Missouri were the most ambitious this season when it came to tackling out-of-state competition.
Maryland schools were involved in an incredible 760 games – winning 411 – against teams from other states, including a 137-96 record against Washington, D.C., programs.
Missouri piled up 732 games against teams from other states, but had losing records against both Illinois (104-115) and Kansas (107-163) to finish well below .500 and 43rd overall out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.
