Section 6 B - North recap November 5, 2013
Maryvale moved up to 481 from 509 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 6 B - North. The Flyers were able to move up by beating Gowanda 24-13.
Lewiston-Porter fell to Griffith Institute 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Burgard/Math Science Tech Prep at Seneca's dynamic duo of Rayshawn Jones and Jamar Holmes proved to be unstoppable against Alden, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jones threw for 170 yards and Holmes had 86 yards receiving. Markiese Hampton helped Burgard/Math Science Tech Prep at Seneca's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 31 yards.
Jacob Haight provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Barker/Royalton-Hartland defeated Newfane. Haight's favorite target this week was Tom Callaghan, who caught 2 passes for 89 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Medina/Webber's Jason Hellwig and Kyle Barna have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Hellwig has thrown for 1,158 yards this season, while Barna has 32 catches for 523 yards. Ed Wolfe from Albion leads the league in rushing with 1,081 yards.
In 113 carries Marshawn Gibson has put up 997 yards this year.
Maryvale made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,282 from 12,577. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-13 victory over the Panthers last week.
