Clovis is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Buchanan is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will host the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clovis will be strutting in after a victory while Buchanan will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Clovis got the win against Central by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won nine in a row.
Clovis not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Central between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-19.
Meanwhile, Buchanan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Clovis East by a score of 3-2. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Timberwolves 25-21 in the first set.
Buchanan took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21, 15-13.
Clovis will have to keep a close watch on Carlos Jay and John Soldani, a pair of players who had a big impact on Buchanan's prior game. Jay had seven digs and three aces, while Soldani had 18 digs and two aces. Cole Haroldsen was another key player, getting 23 assists and eight digs.
Buchanan's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Clovis, their victory bumped their record up to 19-1.
