Even though the Schaeffer Academy Lions have not done well against the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Schaeffer Academy breezed by the Athletics at home to the tune of 49-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Schaeffer Academy.
Leading Schaeffer Academy to victory were Gabriella Buehler and Lillian Morrisey. Buehler scored 14 points along with three steals, while Morrisey scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Morrisey hasn't dropped below three blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Blythe Morgan, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Schaeffer Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Lyle/Pacelli, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-20.
Schaeffer Academy will face off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 16. As for Lyle/Pacelli, they and the Lions will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Spring Grove presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Athletics in Minnesota (the Lions are ranked 145th, while the Athletics are ranked 397th).
