The Fishers Tigers waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Avon with points to spare, taking the game 66-50. Given Fishers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Avon is ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fishers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nevaeh Dickman out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Dickman has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Talia Harris was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven assists.
Avon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makaylee Butts, who scored 11 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Wren, who scored eight points.
Fishers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Avon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fishers will take on Lawrence North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence North will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. As for Avon, they will head out on the road to challenge Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
