The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks will take on the Apopka Blue Darters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Apopka will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Cornerstone Charter Academy extended their winning streak to 12 on Tuesday. The Ducks never let Umatilla get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Olivia Nogueras, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Phillips, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Cornerstone Charter Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Umatilla only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Apopka got the win against Evans on Monday by a conclusive 16-0. The Blue Darters haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Mia Aeschilman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Taylor Smith was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Ava Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Cornerstone Charter Academy pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Apopka, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Both Cornerstone Charter Academy and Apopka just can't seem to miss. The Ducks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Apopka struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
