Basketball Recap: Marshfield Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Zaida Kolbeck and Hailey Klumb

Marshfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 57-38 fall against the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Old Abes are ranked 41st).

Marshfield's loss came despite strong showings from Hailey Klumb and Zaida Kolbeck. Klumb posted 11 points and five rebounds, while Kolbeck earned 11 points and four steals. Kolbeck is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Marshfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Eau Claire Memorial, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

When Marshfield and Eau Claire Memorial next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Marshfield will try to stop Stevens Point's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Eau Claire Memorial will try to stop Rice Lake's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
