PALISADES PARK, N.J. - After swapping the lead three times,
Hasbrouck Heights (N.J.) took the lead for the win when
Adeyemi Da Silva threw a touchdown to
Jose Ortiz in the second quarter, paving the way for victory over
Palisades Park/Leonia (Palisades Park, N.J.) 45-21.
After taking the lead on an Da Silva touchdown pass to Ortiz in the second quarter, the Aviators were up 23-12 at the half.
Hasbrouck Heights expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. HH's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Darren Iurato.
Hasbrouck Heights' Iurato scored two touchdowns on the ground in the victory.
The Tigers came in surrendering 12.9 points per game this season. Palisades Park/Leonia struggled against Hasbrouck Heights' offense, who entered the game scoring 45.0 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Palisades Park/Leonia, which notched a 35-14 victory over North Arlington in its previous outing.
Palisades Park/Leonia (7-1) will play a non-conference game against Ridgefield Memorial next week, while Hasbrouck Heights (8-0) will take on Pompton Lakes also in a non-conference game.
