The Arcata Tigers will play host again and welcome the Moreau Catholic Mariners, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Arcata knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Moreau Catholic likes a good challenge.
Arcata put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 46-6 victory over McKinleyville at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-0.
Cole Vanden plas had an outrageously good game as he threw for 363 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Luke Lemke was another key contributor, picking up 103 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Arcata's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Lincoln Neuman was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic was beaten by James Logan 42-14 on Friday. Moreau Catholic has not had much luck with James Logan recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Arcata's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Moreau Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
