The Osage City Indians will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Nemaha Central Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Osage City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Nemaha Central is ranked 19th).
With a playoff game on the line, Osage City rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 15-8 victory over Council Grove.
Osage City found their leader in underclassman Kasen Parsons, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Parsons and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Osage City's victory.
Meanwhile, Nemaha Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 55-13 victory over Riley County. Fans of Nemaha Central have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Carter Hajek continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and five touchdowns, while also throwing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. Hajek is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Osage City's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Nemaha Central, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Osage City has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nemaha Central struggles in that department as they've been even better at 249.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
