After flying high against the Farmersville Aztecs on Tuesday, the Avenal Buccaneers came back down to earth. Avenal took a serious blow against Kings Christian on Friday, falling 68-27. Avenal was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.
Ronnie Roche continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kings Christian, scoring 27 points along with 4 steals. The match was Roche's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elyas Miro, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Avenal has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Kings Christian, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Avenal will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Summit Charter Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 21st. As for Kings Christian, they will square off against Tranquillity at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Tranquillity will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1149th, while Kings Christian is ranked 552nd).
