Basketball Recap: Oaks Takes a Loss

Oaks extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-3. They took a blow against the Southern Prep Academy Rangers, falling 72-41. Mighty Oaks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Rangers since Tuesday.

Defeat or not, Oaks got some senior leadership from Ashton Crews and Elisha Hallmark. Crews posted 18 points, while Hallmark earned 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hallmark has scored all season.

As for Southern Prep Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3. The game was the first time they have beaten Oaks on their court since December 3, 2021.

Mason Morris was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 39 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least 20 points. Brayden Pace was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Oaks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-59 victory against Success Unlimited Academy on the 20th. Southern Prep Academy has also already played their next game (against Hope Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
