The Florence Christian Eagles suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Christian Academy 42-12. Florence Christian has not had much luck with Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Florence Christian got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Emerson Poston and
Leah Lambert, who each put up three points. Lambert also led the team in rebounds with four.
Payton Rumley was her usual excellent self, scoring eight points along with 20 rebounds and five assists for Christian Academy. Rumley continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Carly Belle Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Florence Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Florence Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Carolina Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Carolina Academy is ranked 146th, while Florence Christian is ranked 133rd). As for Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Williamsburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsburg Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
