The Immokalee Indians will square off against the Riverdale Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Immokalee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Immokalee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over East Lee County. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Maria Marino made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Immokalee got a massive performance out of Yazmin Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Herrera has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Madison Silguero, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Immokalee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Riverdale was able to grind out a solid win over Lemon Bay on Wednesday, taking the game 5-2.
Adrianna Manetta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ella Bundy was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Marie Penia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Riverdale's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-9. As for Immokalee, their record is now 11-15.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Immokalee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immokalee might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Riverdale in their previous meeting on April 4th. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
