Fort Chiswell has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bland County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pioneers will take on the Bears at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fort Chiswell has three straight victories, Bland County has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Fort Chiswell beat Marion 6-1.

Blair Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fort Chiswell let Jenna Ball and Krista King run wild. Ball went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base, while King scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That home run marked the first that Ball launched this season. Tristen Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Fort Chiswell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Bland County came up short against Narrows on Monday, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bears have suffered against the Green Waves since March 18, 2019.
Bland County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn McKee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Presley Watters, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Fort Chiswell pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bland County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Bland County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Fort Chiswell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bland County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.9 strikeouts. Will Fort Chiswell keep running through batters, or will the Bears buck the trend?
Everything went Fort Chiswell's way against Bland County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Fort Chiswell made off with a 19-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
