The Oakley Plainsmen fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Osborne Bulldogs on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 41-39. Oakley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Plainsmen players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jade Beckman, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Beckman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karli Krier, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Oakley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Osborne, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakley will take on Thomas More Prep-Marian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Osborne, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Victoria. Victoria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Osborne is ranked 67th).
