If the Liberty Patriots were feeling good off their 72-32 takedown of the Interlake Saints last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Liberty ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-48 walloping at the hands of Tahoma on Monday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Tahoma is ranked 15th).
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Ella Whitaker, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Whitaker continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Tran, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Tahoma can attribute much of their success to Brooke Deyak, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deyak has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Nettleton, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Liberty has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Tahoma, their win was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
Liberty will challenge Lake Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Washington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. Tahoma won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kentwood at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Kentwood will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
