The University School Preppers will face off against the Louisville Leopards at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. University School will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
University School's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Kenston with a sharp 6-0 victory. Considering the Preppers have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Crew Bellan, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Kenston off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cayden Zelenak, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Cameron Ryan was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
University School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenston only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, Louisville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Chardon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-4 to the Hilltoppers.
Louisville also got a good showing from Carter Deem, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Luke Seaman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those hits were his first of the season.
University School's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Louisville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
University School came up short against Louisville when the teams last played back in June of 2022, falling 3-0. Will the Preppers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
