The Tempe Prep Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Arete Prep CHARGERS at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Tempe Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-14, which was the final score in Tempe Prep's tilt against Rancho Solano Prep on Monday. While losing is never fun, Tempe Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Rancho Solano Prep is ranked 107th).
Meanwhile, Arete Prep was beaten by Leading Edge Academy - GEC 60-23 on Tuesday. Arete Prep has not had much luck with Leading Edge Academy - GEC recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Tempe Prep bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.0 points per game. As for Arete Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Tempe Prep was dealt a bruising 49-18 defeat at the hands of Arete Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Tempe Prep, Mariah Dominguez (who scored 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
