The Clever Blue Jays had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Everything went their way against Ash Grove as Clever made off with a 62-38 victory. Considering Clever has won four games by more than 23 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Clever had a senior duo take command as Ireland Jones scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and six steals and Jayleign Flood dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Clever's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baillie McClanahan, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Clever pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Ash Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clever will face off against Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Ash Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fair Grove at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
