Tanner Eikenbary and Khalil Bailey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Sumner Academy. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in Kaw Valley this season.
Mill Valley added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Washington, 49-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Jordan Jackson threw for 379 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 25-47 with 2 interceptions.
Alex Diaz was a key player and the best on defense this week as Lansing fell to Schlagle. The 5-foot-11 junior forced 1 fumble and recorded 1 fumble.
Jackson put up the best numbers through the air as Bonner Springs lost to St. James Academy. Jackson's favorite target this week was Jonah Freese, who caught 8 passes for 164 yards.
The Lions' Krystian Abbott and Bailey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Abbott has thrown for 2,450 yards this season, while Bailey has 49 catches for 1,321 yards. Tonganoxie's Cole Holloway leads the league in rushing yards with 1,067.
An important game coming up in Kaw Valley this week will be when Mill Valley takes on Lansing. As it stands, Joel Applebee's team is in first, while Bill Pekarek's team is in fifth.
The Chieftains and Jefferson West played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Chieftains eventually emerging with a 34-33 victory. Tyler Ford threw for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 31 yards in the win.
