Roosevelt will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Carlson, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bears blew past the Marauders 13-7 on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
The team relied heavily on Shaylan Gourlay, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Peyton Sabo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Trenton faced Woodhaven in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Trojans lost 10-0 to the Warriors. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.
Trenton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Soens, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Trenton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Roosevelt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .432. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
