Williston has been on the road for six straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Union County Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to a 22-point win in their last game, Williston came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Trenton by a score of 48-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Williston in their matchups with Trenton: they've now lost four in a row.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Kaelynn Brown and Nyima Gillyard. Gillyard had a solid game and scored 14 points along with two steals. Meanwhile, Brown was balling out in the loss, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Williston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trenton only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Union County, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They took a serious blow against Lafayette on Friday, falling 56-17. Union County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-4.
Williston's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-8. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Williston against Union County in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 as the team secured a 56-28 win. Does Williston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Union County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
