Alleghany had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-16 to make it seven. They fell 9-4 to the Elkin Bucking Elks. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly five runs.

William Billings put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Houston West made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Elkin, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.
On Elkin's side, Justus Shore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joseph Johnson, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Elkin is undefeated when Johnson posts three or more hits, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Looking ahead, Alleghany will square off against Salem Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. Elkin will be paying especially close attention to Alleghany's matchup: after Alleghany faces off against Salem Christian School, they'll take on Elkin again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
