The Evergreen Cougars won the last time they faced the Conifer Lobos, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Evergreen came out on top against Conifer by a score of 57-44. With that win, Evergreen brought their scoring average up to 50 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lukas Mccanna, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Beeson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Conifer's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Issac Pratt, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Benson White, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Conifer struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Evergreen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for Conifer, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Evergreen will take on Littleton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for Conifer, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Golden at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Conifer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Golden is ranked 94th).
