The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Aucilla Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Port St. Joe will be strutting in after a win while Aucilla Christian will be coming in after a loss.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Port St. Joe walked away with it. They snuck past the Gators with a 42-38 victory on Monday. The victory was just what Port St. Joe needed coming off of a 53-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Port St. Joe found their leader in underclassman KK McNair, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zaylnn Kilpatric, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Aucilla Christian was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 45-44 to Eagle's View.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Avery Emerick, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Riley Rutledge was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Port St. Joe's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Aucilla Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Port St. Joe took their win against Aucilla Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 70-46. With Port St. Joe ahead 45-25 at the half, the game was all but over already.
