Malad has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bear Lake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bear Lake will be up against a hot Malad squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Dragons' way against Declo on Thursday as they made off with a 14-8 victory.
Liddia Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Malad got a massive performance out of Harlee Maddox, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Stella Merja was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
While Bear Lake didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past West Side 17-4 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.
Like Malad, Bear Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Brielle Romrell. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Romrell was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kambria Romrell was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Pope, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Bear Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Malad's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Bear Lake, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Malad got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 against Bear Lake by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
