Basketball Game Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. Johnson Jaguars

Two dominant guards in Finley Montoya and Daryl Banks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Brandeis Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Johnson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Brandeis sitting on three straight victories and Johnson on seven.

Brandeis is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since December 5, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 victory over Reagan.

Brandeis had a senior duo take command as Sean Tisdall went 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds and Montoya went 7 for 9 en route to 20 points. Tisdall's morning made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Garcia, who posted eight points in addition to nine assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Johnson on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Clark out of the water with a 79-44 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-17.

Johnson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Brandeis, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.

Brandeis came up short against Johnson when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 63-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Banks, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.
