Swain County (Bryson City, N.C.) beat
Smoky Mountain (Sylva, N.C.), 34-20.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Ray Smith in the second quarter, the Maroon Devils was up 14-3 at the half.
Swain County expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. SC scored two times in the third, including once on a
Spencer McCoy touchdown run.
The Bryson City school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 38-7.
The loss comes after Smoky Mountain defeated Andrews 37-6 last week.
In a non-conference game next week Swain County (2-0) takes on North Henderson, and Smoky Mountain (1-1) will go up against Enka also in a non-conference game.
