Lake Wales has gone a perfect 6-0 against Mulberry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Lake Wales will look to defend their home field against Mulberry at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Lake Wales turned things around against Lakeland on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Dreadnaughts.
Carter Finnell was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Brody Welborn was another key player, scoring four runs while going 1-for-4.
Finnell wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lake Wales kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Lake Wales is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mulberry entered their tilt with IMG Academy Gray on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Ascenders get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 21st.
The result came thanks to Jayson Blouin's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Griffin Cline, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jake Buffington, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Mulberry's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Lake Wales, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Lake Wales was able to grind out a solid win over Mulberry when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Lake Wales have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mulberry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
