Oakland is 9-1 against Blackman since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will challenge the Blaze at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Oakland put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They put the hurt on Rockvale with a sharp 19-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Aaron, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted four RBI, the most she's had over her last 12 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmyne Watkins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Oakland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Blackman was not the first on the board on Sunday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Riverdale by a score of 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blaze.
Khloe Kolb was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Barber, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Oakland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Blackman, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Blackman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oakland has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Blackman, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Oakland's sizable advantage in that area, the Blaze will need to find a way to close that gap.
Oakland took their victory against Blackman when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
