Having just played yesterday, the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks will head out on the road to face off against the Edwards-Knox Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on January 17th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tupper Lake has three straight wins, Edwards-Knox has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Tupper Lake gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Parishville-Hopkinton 91-34 at home. Tupper Lake's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Tupper Lake relied on the efforts of Michael Corneau, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Thomas Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Corneau has scored all season. Garrett Pelkey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Edwards-Knox suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-32 loss at the hands of St. Lawrence Central. Edwards-Knox was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.
Tupper Lake's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.14 points. As for Edwards-Knox, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Tupper Lake against Edwards-Knox when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 78-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tupper Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
