The Valley Forge Patriots had to endure a 19-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They managed a 57-52 win over Buckeye on Saturday. Valley Forge's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Valley Forge found their leader in underclassman Mikayla Hoang, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Hoang set a new season high mark in points with 14. Gracie Kercher was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Buckeye still got an impressive performance from Kwynn Czerwony, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Czerwony scored a full 40.4% of Buckeye's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Penny, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Valley Forge's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for Buckeye, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Valley Forge will be playing at home against Normandy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Normandy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Buckeye, they will head out on the road to face off against Loudonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Loudonville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three contests.
