Even though the Glencliff Colts scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, the Overton Bobcats still came out on top. Overton took down Glencliff 76-60. Given Overton's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Glencliff is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Overton to victory were William Livingston and William Carter. Livingston scored 21 points, while Carter scored 28 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least 25% of Overton's points. Kaleb Hurt was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Despite the loss, Glencliff still got an impressive performance from Jeremy Polk, who scored 29 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Polk's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Thomason, who scored 10 points.
Overton has yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Glencliff, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Overton will head out on the road to face off against Father Ryan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Father Ryan is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Glencliff, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against McGavock at 7:30 p.m.
