Basketball Recap: Alleghany Piles Up the Points Against Carroll County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alleghany). They claimed a resounding 66-31 victory over the Carroll County Cavaliers. With the Cougars ahead 37-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

It was another big night for Bryce Leitch, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 23 points. Leitch is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Emma Wolfe also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Alleghany was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Carroll County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Coleman, who posted eight points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Young, who put up three points.

Alleghany has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Carroll County, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Alleghany didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-26 win against Glenvar on the 20th. As for Carroll County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-31 defeat against Radford on the 22nd.
