The Western Brown Broncos were the 32-14 winner over the Wilmington Hurricane when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Western Brown lost to Wilmington on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin on Friday. Western Brown's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Western Brown's loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Smith and Brady Sutton. Smith picked up 223 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Sutton threw for 372 yards and two touchdowns. Smith was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 60 yards.
Western Brown has fallen quite a ways from their 11-2 record last season and are now at 3-7. As for Wilmington, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Western Brown will head out on the road to face off against Tippecanoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tippecanoe presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Western Brown in Ohio (Tippecanoe is ranked 158th, while Western Brown is ranked 380th). As for Wilmington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bellbrook at 7:00 p.m. Bellbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Wilmington likes a good challenge.
