Softball Recap: Westside Has No Trouble Against Trumann

Westside never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Trumann Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Mckyna Craig made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Craig wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kimber Wynn, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Vada Watkins was another, scoring two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Westside and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Trumann, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will host Brookland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trumann, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lonoke at 4:30 p.m.
