Hubbard is 0-10 against Kennedy since April of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Greyhounds will welcome the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. Hubbard will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Hubbard's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Back of the Yards College Prep. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Ricardo Romo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Luis Bautista and Jaden Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Bautista went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Rodriguez went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Serafin Millan, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Hubbard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .640 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Shepard hit Kennedy with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders came up short against the Astros, falling 11-3. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Astros recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Luke Zavala was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hubbard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hubbard might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Kennedy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
