On Thursday, Anderson C lost to Oakbrook Prep on the road by a decisive 69-53 margin. While losing is never fun, Anderson C can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while Oakbrook Prep is ranked 107th).
Oakbrook Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Grant led the charge by scoring 14 points along with four steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Wilkins, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds.
Anderson C's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Oakbrook Prep, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson C will take on Monsignor Donovan Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Monsignor Donovan Catholic is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Oakbrook Prep will finish 2023 at home by hosting Asheville T at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Asheville T's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
