The Economedes Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo. Economedes was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Economedes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jesus Medrano, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Medrano is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Jesse Carreon was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Hector Sanchez had an outrageously good game for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo as he scored 28 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Vega, who scored five points along with two steals.
Economedes has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-21.
Economedes will take on the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edinburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they will head out on the road to face off against the Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in La Joya's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Bears have been banged up by 16 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
