Brady Sharp was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Patrick Drudy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Leo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garrett struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Huntington North unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of DeKalb by a score of 5-3.
Huntington North also got a good showing from Caiden Pohler, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pohler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Huntington North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Kindler, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Leo pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Huntington North, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Leo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Huntington North struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
