Basketball Recap: The Classical Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

The Classical Academy entered their tilt with Sierra on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 52-39 victory over the Sierra Stallions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-46 back in January.

The Classical Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryann Ferguson, who posted seven points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Ferguson now owns an excellent 46.3% field goal percentage. Kelsey Peterson was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five assists and five boards.

The Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, Sierra had strong showings from Zuleyka Garcia, who put up seven points and five steals, and Deja Burns, who earned six points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. Burns is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The Classical Academy's record is now 11-9. As for Sierra, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-8.

Coming up, The Classical Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Canon City has won five straight at home, while The Classical Academy won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Sierra, they will host Elizabeth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Sierra is facing Elizabeth at the right time seeing as Elizabeth is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
