There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. The action included a dizzyingly high 108-point combined score from St. John's and Christian Brothers.
Can't Touch This
Episcopal's 34 - 17 win over Collegiate last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Juanell Walker. Walker rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns. That performance made Walker one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between St. John's (ranked 2nd in DC) and Christian Brothers (ranked 1st in MO). St. John's took its game by a score of 59 - 49. Even if it didn't bump it up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Game of Inches
After a comfortable win over Xaverian in the match before, St. Mary's Ryken might have felt a bit of anxiety in its most recent match. St. Mary's Ryken won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Bullis 34 - 33. Bullis had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only ten points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off St. Mary's Ryken. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
It should be quite a contest when Our Lady of Good Counsel (ranked 4th in MD) and Gonzaga (3rd in DC) face off this week. Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Gonzaga and Our Lady of Good Counsel both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Gonzaga with five and Our Lady of Good Counsel with three), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
