Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Littleton Lions proved on Wednesday. They took down Dakota Ridge 62-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Littleton.
Littleton had a senior duo take command as Penny Urquhart dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds and Jacy Chandler scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Urquhart has scored at least a third of Littleton's points. Samantha Hernandez Tobon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Dakota Ridge still got an impressive performance from Maryn Talyat, who scored 42 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Talyat has scored all season.
Littleton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Dakota Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littleton will take on D'Evelyn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 59.4 so far this season, D'Evelyn's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Littleton better be ready for a challenge. As for Dakota Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheat Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
