After two games on the road, Wiregrass Ranch is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the South Lake Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Wiregrass Ranch escaped with a win against Cypress Creek by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40.
Wiregrass Ranch can attribute much of their success to Andralee Keim, who scored five points along with ten steals and five assists, and Solei Sowell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Keim is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Tennae Cabral was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three blocks.
Meanwhile, South Lake put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Tavares 52-24 on the road. Given South Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Tavares is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wiregrass Ranch is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for South Lake, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Wiregrass Ranch, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-34 loss to South Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South Lake's Jazmine Monroe, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Now that Wiregrass Ranch knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
