Softball Game Preview: Aldine Mustangs vs. Westfield Mustangs

Aldine is a perfect 5-0 against Westfield since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Aldine will be playing in front of their home fans against Westfield at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Aldine fell victim to MacArthur and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 15-0 to the Generals. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aldine saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Moctezuma, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Westfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Nimitz, falling 16-9.

Jazmine Leal was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Eloisa Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Aldine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Aldine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Westfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .430. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Aldine's way against Westfield in their previous meeting back in March, as Aldine made off with an 18-6 win. Does Aldine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
