Basketball Game Preview: Central Jaguars vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

Central has gone 6-1 against West Florida Baptist Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Central Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors at 7:30 p.m. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.

Central is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Pleasant Home 66-39. The contest marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Carson Baxley, who posted eight points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Donovan Dean, who had eight points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy entered their tilt with Laurel Hill on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They secured a 48-44 W over the Hoboes. Given the Conquerors' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Hoboes are ranked 698th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Florida Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Central beat West Florida Baptist Academy 47-40 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Will Central repeat their success, or does West Florida Baptist Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
